According to the Captain's log, we spent about six years of our life aboard the Cat and traveled 25,000 miles, which is equivalent to going around the world.

The Cheshire Cat - her story
We started living aboard the Cheshire Cat in 1997, which was long before we started sending out digital cards. Since only digital cards were our original way of keeping in touch electronically, only the last few years of our live aboard life are in this blog. Yet all our trips were similar to what is shown In this record. We sailed up and down the Atlantic Coast. And yes, we didn't motor, but sailed the Intracoastal for a good part of the way. Up and down the coast. And up and down again. And again....

Sailing North - 2008
We started north on May 21, looking forward to another summer in NYC. It didn’t happen. By the time we got to the Chesapeake, we decided we need to take our bodies in for repairs. Grandpa’s back was the most worrisome. We got Ratherby out of storage and moved from boat to motorhome. We left the Cheshire Cat safe and sound (and unsold!) on shore at Worten Creek (Maryland).

Florida - 2008
What a wonderful winter! Of course, while we docked in Ft. Lauderdale we took the opportunity to sail out into the Caribbean on a Celebrity cruise. Not just once, but twice. We also sailed the Cat down to the Keys, through the Everglades, and all the way around the bottom of Florida, then sailing up the Gulf side as far north as Venice. When we got back to Ft. Lauderdale we settled in for our longest stay ever. We had time to give the Cat a lot of TLC (Terrific Loving Care).
